Promise Built Consulting

Promise Built Consulting (PBC) was a five person team formed at Pepperdine University under BA 498, one of two business senior capstone classes. PBC worked with a non-profit organization, Urban Promise LA, to deliver a literacy curriculum proposal.

I helped create and send surveys, analyze the collected data, interview student teachers, and design the report and deliverables, as part of my responsibilities on the team.

Our client, Urban Promise LA (UPLA), is a non-profit located in Canoga Park with a mission to provide a faith-based education to the youth, building them to be Christian leaders that can restore their communities.
The problem is that...
There is a lack of a research-based structure and foundation in UPLA's Reading and Literacy class curriculum. Currently, UPLA recruits the help of high school student volunteers (Street Leaders), who all independently prepare their own class session with no existing teaching structure.

Promise Built Consulting has provided a streamlined and measurable reading and literacy deliverable to UPLA, along with research-based solutions and approaches to increase teaching effectiveness.
Key Features
Literacy Handbook - contains teaching materials and assessments to combat learning challenges UPLA encounters.
Researched-based Evidence - Analysis of published academic papers, interviews from education professors and student teachers to create handbook.
Pre- and Post-Assessments - Assessments provided to help UPLA measure improvements in literacy and comprehension among students.
